The past few months have been incredibly busy at BC Media, with a huge influx of both work & training in house! One of our recent developments has been the branding, web design & search engine optimisation for a new pest control company, Yorkshire Wolds Pest Control.

The site went live last month & features some very slick SEO features; besides search engine friendly URL’s, quality internal linking & a dynamic site map, the site underwent significant keyword research so latent semantic analysis can be performed by search engines. This means the site is more likely to appear in the search index for phrases that the website is not optimised for. Besides this, it makes for a more engaging reading experience for the end reader, which ultimately leads to more conversions.

The site certainly ticks all the rights boxes & besides looking good also performs. After only 30 days the site is already ranking well for numerous key terms.

In an extremely liberating and wild fashion, BC Media has decided to dump all support for Internet Explorer 6. For years IE6 has been nothing short of a bane to developers as Microsoft insisted on creating their own web standards which were wildly different to evey one elses. They pretty much made a mockery of web design as a designer could spend up to 20% of a web development simply ensuring the website worked with IE6!

With Google denouncing IE6 (see here Google Agree: IE6 Must Die); I have to question the logic of a business such as BC Media trying to provide support for a web browser when even the likes of Google treats it like a leper. And, to that end, I've decide we won't. So if you're a new client & your web browser is not showing your site like the rest of the world sees it, rather than getting on the phone to BC MEdia, get on the bus and update to a real browser such as Firefox or Chrome. If you insist on IE loyalty, at least update it to IE8 - if not for your own website; then do it for the sake of those poor web developers out there!

BC Media has recently completed a new website for mixed martial arts school Multi Masters Academy. Owner, Gary Watkinson, approached BC Media to design and develop the new site to showcase the new martial arts gym in York. The site had to look & feel energised, to reflect the dynamic nature of the School. After the initial consultation period, the web site was developed in under 4 weeks and already sees the site ranking well on Google for a variety of key search terms & should hopefully be on page one for "mixed martial arts york" very soon!

When Hammer & Tong approached BC Media for a company rebrand & marketing package we were given the challenge of modernising the look and image of a well respected & age old profession - Farriery. Our client wanted to present the horse shoeing industry with a modern, contemporary look whilst still retaining a feel for the trades long, proud history.
